Many lung conditions are related to allergies and asthma. These include exercise-induced asthma, cough, and vocal cord dysfunction.
Exercise-induced asthma usually happens 5-20 minutes after exercise. Symptoms are generally worse in very cold and/or dry conditions.
In most cases, cough is caused by a bacterial infection or virus and will go away on its own. However, a persistent cough can be a sign of something more serious – like asthma. Proper diagnosis is the first step in managing a chronic cough.
Vocal cord dysfunction happens when the vocal cords don’t open correctly. It can cause symptoms that are similar to asthma, like:
Many people with asthma also have vocal cord dysfunction. However, the treatments are very different. This makes proper diagnosis crucial.
