FOOD ALLERGIES

Almost any food can cause an allergic reaction. However, eight foods account for 90% of all food allergies in the U.S. Symptoms can be mild – rashes, hives, swelling. Or they can be severe – trouble breathing, loss of consciousness – and even fatal.

Diagnosing a food allergy can be tricky. It might not be obvious which food is causing symptoms. At KCAA, we are trained in performing proper diagnostic testing to correctly identify food allergens.

Many children with milk or egg allergies will eventually be able to tolerate these foods. However, childhood food allergies may be predictive of things to come. Children with food allergies, especially egg allergies, have a 50 – 90% chance of developing other allergies and asthma when older.
